The Adamawa state government, in collaboration with the World Bank, will implement the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowering (AGILE) project in all schools across the state, focusing mainly on junior and senior secondary levels.

During a courtesy visit to Amna Shelleng, Engineer Siddiku Liman, the state project coordinator, along with the implementing team, announced the project.

This initiative, representing additional financing from the World Bank and the Adamawa state government, aims to support girls between the ages of ten and twenty who may have dropped out of school, as well as their parents, to facilitate their return to education.

The project will also prioritize the construction of new schools and the renovation of existing ones as needed and is divided into three components.

In response, Doctor Abdullahi Isa Dasong II expressed gratitude for the visit and assured the team of his chiefdom’s commitment to supporting the project.

He praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for emphasizing the importance of education and pledged their full support until all girl children in their community are enrolled in school.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is a leader who is responsible and knows how important education is to the growth and development of any developed society, which I am sure is the reason he embraced this project to ensure that education doesn’t stop at a certain stage.
If you educate a girl child, you are doing great service to the immediate community and the nation at large. I want to assure you, we will support this project until all our girl children are enrolled in schools ”
