The Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the Catholic Diocese of Yola, in collaboration with Mission Take Heart, has inaugurated an industrial borehole in the Tashan Turmi community of Girei Local Government.
This project aims to provide residents with access to clean water.
During the commissioning ceremony, Bishop Mamza represented the JDPC and acknowledged the generous support from Mission Take Heart, their long-time partner in humanitarian work.
He highlighted the challenges faced by the community, which is located just two kilometres from the Salama Housing IDP settlement. Residents struggle with limited access to clean water, schools, and healthcare services.

The lack of clean drinking water has contributed to the prevalence of water-related diseases and miscarriages.
In light of these difficulties, Bishop Mamza urged the government and affluent individuals to engage with underserved communities, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion in development initiatives.

Additionally, he brought joy to the children of Tashan Turmi by distributing Christmas clothes, encouraging them to recognize their worth in society despite economic hardships.
He emphasized the importance of hope and resilience.
Community representatives Dorcas Jacob and Stephen Madah expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Catholic Diocese of Yola and Mission Take Heart for their support.

They assured their commitment to the stewardship of the borehole and offered prayers for continued blessings and progress in their community
