The Bachama Traditional Council in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State has strongly voiced their support for the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), recognizing the crucial role of electricity in sustaining livelihoods and businesses.
During a stakeholder sensitization event in Numan aimed at raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding power assets and improving electricity supply, the council, represented by District Heads under the Bachama kingdom, reaffirmed their unwavering commitment towards safeguarding power infrastructure by creating local security mechanisms to prevent vandalism and other forms of asset damage.
In a statement issued by the company’s communication officer, Blessing Tunoh, YEDC officials at the event engaged with the community leaders on crucial issues, including the company’s services, announcing the 24-hour customer service call centre, complaint redress mechanisms, feeder sensitization, and the banding system.

The council, pleased with the meeting, demanded more stakeholder engagement opportunities to empower customers to actively combat power theft, vandalism, and assaults on YEDC personnel—offences which carry strict legal implications, especially under the new Electricity Act.
YEDC urges customers to promptly respond regarding bill payments to mitigate financial losses for the company, which would otherwise impede replacing faulty equipment to improve supplies to homes and businesses within the council.
Customers were further strongly encouraged to adopt the company’s e-payment platforms, such as the BuyPower app or over-the-counter payments at YEDC offices; secure and efficient ways to settle their bills, reducing the risks associated with cash transactions.

In the absence of the Hama Bachama Dr. Daniel Shaga Ismail, the event was chaired by his deputy, Kpana Linus Anonoma, with District heads and the Numan Council Chairman, Hon. Innocent Koto, in attendance.
They all committed to disseminating the information to their respective domains, ensuring wider community awareness about the initiatives discussed. In return, they emphatically expressed their demand for an improved supply from YEDC to the domain.
