In preparation for International Youth Day, Adamawa State is organizing a variety of events to commemorate the occasion. Barrister Yakuba Wali, the Adamawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, has encouraged young people to move beyond mere digital engagement and instead use technology for meaningful and sustainable impact.

This year’s theme, “From Click to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” highlights the important role of young people in leveraging digital technologies to drive sustainable development and tackle global challenges.

The State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has planned various activities to observe International Youth Day on August 12, 2024, including digital skills training for youth, a panel discussion on youth digital entrepreneurship, and a talk show on youth development. In addition, the National Youth Service Corps will host a Mother-care Exhibition focusing on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.

Barrister Wali stressed the significance of public-private partnerships and inclusive celebrations, emphasizing the ministry’s collaboration with youth-led organizations in the state. He emphasized that this year’s theme aims to recognize the youth as catalysts for change and acknowledges their potential to utilize digital technologies for sustainable development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the promotion of digital citizenship.
