The Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Right Reverend Nelson Malau, has charged pastors of the church to remain steadfast as vanguards of Jesus Christ by reflecting exemplary virtues in their conduct and dedicating themselves fully to God’s work.
Bishop Malau gave the charge in his welcome address at the two-day Pre-Convention Programme held on Monday at LCCN Gweda Mallam in Numan, ahead of the church’s National Convention scheduled to hold from Wednesday to Sunday this week.
Addressing over one hundred pastors, the Bishop urged the clergy to remain prayerful, committed, and spiritually prepared as they gather for the annual convention. He emphasized the need for ministers to uphold the integrity of the body of Christ in their public and private lives.
He also encouraged pastors to make judicious use of social media platforms for the propagation of the Gospel, warning against actions capable of tarnishing the image of the church.
Quoting from the book of Ephesians chapter four, verses three to six, Bishop Malau called on the clergy to remain united in spirit and open to God’s leading throughout the convention. He urged them to allow themselves to be used by God during the gathering for the spiritual growth of the church.
The Bishop further called for prayers for Nigeria as the country prepares for general elections next year, urging God to raise righteous leaders across various elective positions.
He appealed to all members of the church to remain prayerful for the success of the forthcoming National Convention.
The LCCN Pre-Convention Programme is traditionally held annually two to three days before the official opening of the church’s national spiritual gathering. The event was attended by more than one hundred pastors, including the Vice Bishop, Deans, Administrative Secretary, Directors of various departments, and other church leaders.
