The The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Grace Assembly Yola, has celebrated its 20th anniversary thanksgiving service with a call on Christians to remain steadfast in the word of God despite the challenges of a changing world.
The event, held at the church auditorium opposite the Adamawa State House of Assembly in Yola, attracted worshippers, invited guests, and church leaders from different denominations.
Delivering a sermon titled “The Word in a Changing World,” guest speaker, Chris Busari of the Assemblies of God Church, said the word of God remains the only dependable guide for believers in the face of societal changes and modern-day challenges.
Quoting from Matthew 4:24–27, Busari noted that while many things in life may change or pass away, the word of God remains constant and continues to provide hope, strength, and direction for Christians.
He urged believers to remain committed to the study of the scriptures and maintain fellowship with one another, stressing that unity among Christians promotes spiritual growth and strengthens faith.
Speaking with journalists after the service, the pioneer pastor of the church, Adekule Adebanjo, described the anniversary celebration as the fulfillment of God’s vision for the ministry.
According to him, the church, which started in 2006 with a small congregation, has grown into a strong spiritual family where many people have experienced hope, healing, and transformation through God’s grace.
Adebanjo called on Christians to remain faithful and committed to God in order to enjoy His grace in every area of life. He added that the anniversary was not only a moment of celebration but also a time for reflection and spiritual renewal as the church moves into another phase of growth.
Also speaking, the host pastor, Humwashi Wonosikou, described the celebration as a testimony of God’s faithfulness over the past two decades.
He said the church had remained united and sustained by grace throughout the years, adding that the anniversary provided members the opportunity to appreciate God’s goodness and reflect on His sustaining power.
Pastor Wonosikou further encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith despite the pressures of a changing world, urging believers to live with contentment and focus on eternity.
Highlights of the celebration included testimonies, praise and worship sessions, and the cutting of the anniversary cake.
