
Borno State Governor Zulum urged the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to adopt its “Durable solutions” and “humanitarian peace development nexus” plans for addressing humanitarian crises and building the resilience of displaced persons in the state.
The appeal was made during a visit from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees at the government house in Maiduguri.
The Governor’s aim is for the UNHCR to strengthen ties and provide necessary humanitarian assistance for displaced persons and refugees in neighbouring countries.
The focus of the discussion was on sustainable plans that aim to bring lasting solutions to humanitarian crises, along with the Borno state government’s “Durable Solutions” and humanitarian peace development nexus plans for the resettlement, support, and protection of displaced persons.
Governor Zulum expressed his desire to repatriate refugees from other countries.
In addition to this, the Governor also met with the Governing Council of the University of Maiduguri at the government house, Maiduguri.
He assured the delegation of his support and commitment to partnering with the University in areas of research and development to promote security and agricultural advancement.
