ECONOMIC HARDSHIP:This is the time to reach out to the underprivileged- Bishop Mamza Encourages Wealthy Nigerians.

No fewer than fifty widows received grains and cash incentives from the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC)Catholic Diocese of Yola to cushion the effect of Nigeria’s economic meltdown.

Presenting the items to the beneficiaries selected from different organisations, Most Reverend Dr Stephen Dami Mamza, Catholic Bishop of Yola diocese, expressed his gratitude to their parishioners for their generosity, explaining that their act of kindness consistently put a smile on the faces of the underprivileged.

The benevolent clergy is concerned over the inflation ravaging families, precisely the widows and orphans in the society, emphasizing the need to consistently provide aid to their class, which he believes is also a service to God and humanity.

“With the situation, we found ourselves in this country, how difficult life is to the masses, compounded by the flood and drought experienced this year, we felt the need to assist this vulnerable class to cushion the effect of the economic hardship in Nigeria”

Bishop Mamza explained that the items are purely an act of benevolence from the Catholic Diocese of Yola, adding that as a religious body, it is scriptural to assist those in need no matter how little the gesture is.

Bishop Mamza, who is the former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Adamawa State, pleaded with wealthy Nigerians and organizations to reach out to the needy as he urged the beneficiaries not to sell the grains no matter the weight of the temptations.

“I warn them never to sell it even in strip necessity. As a Nigerian, I’m aware of the financial temptations across the country, it is better to give it out generously than to take it to the market. I also hope individuals and organizations to also reach out to the underprivileged in their immediate communities. This is the time we need to reach out to the needy”

Bishop Mamza appeals to Nigerians not to lose hope in the country but continues to pray for divine intervention as he urges the political leadership to govern with the fear of God and fashioned out ways to end the current hardship.

Commending Bishop Mamza and the Catholic Church, Veronica said the gesture came at a time when securing what to eat in Nigeria is the hardest thing and the need of the hour.
