The Adamawa state government has threatened to embark on house-to-house enforcement of the ongoing monthly sanitation exercise in its efforts to restore the beauty and sanity of the state.

The commissioner of information and strategy, James Iliya, issued the threat shortly after monitoring and supervising the exercise led by the deputy governor, professor Kaletapwa Farauta.

To demonstrate leadership by example, Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has continued to lead the monitoring and supervision of the ongoing monthly environmental sanitation exercise aimed at promoting the culture of cleanliness, hygiene and a healthy society.

Saturday 31st August 2024, marks the third round of the exercise since it was reintroduced by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s led administration.

Shortly after going around the state capital and environs for supervision and monitoring, information commissioner James Iliya promised additional mobile courts to improve the level of enforcement, thereby penalizing defaulters for the desired results.

Despite the government efforts to revive the dignity and sanity of the state, according to him, these scenarios are still lingering in some residential areas, and shops, among other places; the “I don’t care attitude, he said, will not be tolerated.

The commissioner frowned at that, urging those found wanting to have a change of attitude and clear their environments before it was too late.

The state chairman of the board of Internal Revenue, Hamman Adama Njabari, and the commissioner for environment, Sadiq Muhammed, decried poor enforcement and compliance, promising to step up their strategy for effective performance.

They equally threatened to prepare and serve the defaulter’s demand notice to clear their environments or face sanction, stressing that they would not allow anything to jeopardize the efforts of Governor Fintiri.

The stakeholders further tasked community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to raise the tempo of awareness amongst their subjects on the benefit of keeping their environment clean and hygienic.
