
Community leaders and influential stakeholders in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, have called on former NIRSAL Managing Director, Aliyu Abdulhamid, popularly known as Abbati, to contest for the Central Adamawa Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The call was made during a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held in Jimeta, which brought together prominent figures and residents from across the community.
Speaking at the gathering, the member representing Yola North in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Suleiman P.A., expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the unified call for Abbati’s candidacy. He commended Abbati’s track record during his tenure at NIRSAL and assured that the people were ready to give him maximum support to enable him deliver meaningful development.
Also addressing the meeting, Alhaji Isa Bagalci highlighted Abbati’s contributions to development across various sectors, stressing the need for the community to rally behind him. According to him, Abbati’s leadership would further accelerate progress and bring tangible benefits to Jimeta and the wider senatorial district.
In his remarks, Hassan Turaki described the call as timely, noting that the district requires a capable and visionary leader. He urged Abbati to heed the appeal, adding that his leadership could help tackle economic challenges and create employment opportunities for the youth.
Similarly, Kawu Wandala emphasized the need for unity among stakeholders, urging those yet to align with the movement to join hands in support of a common goal. He reaffirmed his commitment to backing Abbati’s aspiration.
Danjuma Iliyausu, a resident of Jimeta, also declared his support, stating that the community strongly believes in Abbati’s capacity to effectively represent Adamawa Central at the National Assembly.
Responding to the calls, Abbati expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by the people. He noted that Jimeta and the wider district deserve greater dividends of democracy, lamenting what he described as years of neglect. He pledged that, if elected, he would prioritize infrastructure and socio-economic development across the constituency.
He thanked the stakeholders for their overwhelming support and assured them of his commitment to delivering on their expectations if given the mandate.
