A governorship hopeful in Adamawa State, Chief Felix Tangwami, has paid a courtesy visit to organized labour, pledging to prioritize workers’ welfare and inclusive governance if elected.
The meeting, held at the Labour House in Yola, brought together leaders of various unions under the umbrella of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), alongside supporters of the aspirant.
Addressing the union leaders, Tangwami said his aspiration was driven by a desire to continue the good works of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in repositioning Adamawa State through policies that would uplift workers, improve infrastructure, and create job opportunities for the youth.

“I am here to identify with the labour movement, listen to your concerns, and assure you that workers will remain central in my administration,” he said. “A motivated workforce is key to sustainable development.”
The governorship hopeful outlined plans to ensure prompt payment of salaries and pensions, capacity building for civil servants, and the establishment of industries to boost employment across the state.
In their responses, labour leaders commended the visit and emphasized the need for leaders to engage directly with workers. They highlighted issues such as delayed salaries, poor working conditions, and the need for better welfare packages as critical areas requiring urgent attention.
The union representatives urged Tangwami and other aspirants to present clear and actionable policies that address the challenges faced by workers and the general populace.
The visit forms part of Tangwami’s ongoing consultations with key stakeholders across Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
