His Royal Majesty Homun Dr. Daniel Shaga Ismaila, CON, Kpawo Nomwe, Gilongo Diya, Hama Bachama and the Bachama Traditional Council have received the sad news of the demise of Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina, a respected and illustrious son of the Lunguda nation which sad event was reported to have occurred on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024
Dr. Jonathan Zwingina, of blessed memory, who has gone to be with the LORD, will certainly be remembered for many things, but especially for the large and expansive footsteps which he has left in the sand of time. It is the type and size of which a replacement will be difficult to find.
Late Senator Zwingina was, until his call to glory, a founding Member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and a two-term Senator of the federal republic, representing the nine Local Government Areas of Adamawa South Senatorial District at the Red Chamber.
He was a Senator of the Fourth Republic who served from 1999 to 2003 and from 2003 to 2007, respectively.
He had, in his lifetime, made a significant impact on all who came into contact with him not only in Adamawa State but across the nation having served in various capacities in the Senate as Chairman Senate Committee on Works and Housing, and for Committee on Establishment, Internal Affairs, Information and Special Projects, as well as for Committee on Privatization and Economic Affairs.
He was also the Senate Majority leader at that time, a member of numerous other groups in the Senate and his party the PDP. He was also entrusted to Chair the Board of Trustees of the Save Democracy Group.
A statement by the Press Secretary to Hama Bachama Anselm Nuhu Kyauta says, His Royal Majesty, Homun Dr. Daniel Shaga Ismaila (CON), (Kpawo Nomwe, Gilongo Diya), Hama Bachama and Chairman Bachama Traditional Council; and the Bwatiye community worldwide, are indeed saddened by the loss of a statesman, a bridge builder and an elder who loves his people and represented them effectively at every opportunity.
The Paramount Ruler brings sincere and deepest condolences to his family, the Lunguda nation, Adamawa State and Nigeria.
