
In a constructive collaboration, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) teamed up with the Ubola Rural Community Foundation (URCF) to distribute 600 dignity kits to students in Adamawa State.
This initiative, now in the hands of the Adamawa State government, aims to ensure that these essential kits reach students in need.
The dignity kit distribution and equality awareness campaign took place at the Government Day Secondary School in Karewa. Each kit contains vital items such as sanitary pads, hair cream, sanitary towels, underwear, and mats, all designed to empower and restore dignity to vulnerable students.
Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta characterized the event as a pivotal moment, representing hope and support for the beneficiaries.
She was represented by Commissioner for Transport Wunfe Anthony, who affirmed the government’s commitment to recognizing and addressing community challenges.
The government is steadfast in its efforts to protect and promote the rights and dignity of all citizens, especially women and girls.

Highlighting the importance of creating a community where dignity is regarded as a fundamental right, the Deputy Governor praised NEDC and Ubola for their impactful project. She called for ongoing support to ensure its sustainability.
Dr. Fatima Babari, Assistant General Manager of Health at NEDC, and Pharmacist Musa Dauda Etubi, Executive Chairman of URCF, stressed their commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of society.
They emphasized that the project also serves as an avenue for economic empowerment among beneficiaries.
DDrOmede Ogu, Technical Assistant Lead at URCF, elaborated on the initiative, explaining its purpose is to restore dignity and hope to those adversely affected by insurgency in the northeast.
He advocated for dedicated budget support in the state to facilitate the expansion of this important project.
Fadimatu Bello, Director of Professional and Monitoring Services, representing the Executive Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Management Board, acknowledged the donors for their sensitivity to gender needs, highlighting the crucial role of sanitary products, particularly for girls.
A key component of this initiative involves selecting a boy and a girl as goodwill ambassadors.
These ambassadors will promote awareness of dignity kits within their schools and social groups, further spreading the message of empowerment and dignity.
